Andria hopped across Kayla and ran for the control panel, grabbing Keith's flashlight in

her hand. Nick finally succeeded in pushing Ellis and Dave off of him, as a group they

followed after Andria and under the tiny cover of the bridge.

Andria had already pulled off the cover of the control panel and was now

searching rapidly for any way to start a spark to power up the bridge. Nick walked over

and shouted over the rain; "That one! The blue and the red wires!"

Andria didn't question him and pulled out her knife, cutting the wires in half,

she tapped them together and started a spark. The bridge lights went on and she pulled

the controls down and the bridge began its slow descent. There was a massive clap of

thunder and lighting blew up the sky.

Kayla saw something down in the dike, a figure slowly making its way towards

them. She squinted, at first she thought that it was another townsperson that had seen

the lights and wanted shelter. But then another flash of lighting told her that it was an

elder, with a bloodstain around their mouth.

Harold McKinley. She started shouting; she was pointing over to the figure and

was terrified to see more silhouettes emerging from the shadows, all with the same

expression of numbness, and hunger. Nick and Andria were clueless to the cries she was

yelling out, the rain, wind and thunder beat down even harder. She ran to the two who

were still by the car

"He's back!" she screamed, grabbing a hold of Ellis's arm, spinning him around to

look at her

"who es back?" he questioned, rain dripping from the top of his hat. Kayla pulled

him to the edge of the bridge to point out to the distance. At first it seemed like

nothing was there, the rain was impossible to see through and it was extremely dark due

to the black and grey clouds above them. Lightning struck the ground for a third time,

revealing a good three hundred feet from their current spot. Ellis's eyes widened as he

finally saw what she was talking about, figures emerging from utter darkness and

approaching their location.

" eh guys, we have ah problem her" he shouted, Keith noticed the worried look on

his face and came trotting towards him, looking confused

"wut problem do we have?" he asked, trying to figure out what his friend was

talking about. The rain caused the lake water from Okeechobee to rise even higher and

reflections from the city rippled while mobile homes were ripped from their lots,

floating away at the current. Ellis raised his hand and pointed to where he had seen the

weird creature people, and waited for the next bit of lightning to strike the ground and

reveal what he had seen. A loud crash struck earth's surface, they began to shake, but

the sky was fully lit again as Keith looked out into the distance

"HOLY SHEIT! Wut the hell'r those?" Keith yelled in disbelief. He was in utter

awe as he looked over to the rest of the group to see that they fully had the bridge

down. He motioned for Ellis to follow and ran for his friends. Ellis tightly wrapped his

hand in Kayla's and pulled her along with him as she continued to look back. The wind

caused their running to slow down, along with the water, and soon they were walking back.

Dave, Andria and Nick were the first ones on the bridge, standing there and waiting for

the other three to catch up, Dave spoke up

"Nick, we're gonna have ta leave yer car behind" his voice strained from all the

noise, it didn't seem to have any bother with Nick, he didn't even seem to be brought

back with the rain, he just kept yelling

"Oh no, Hell no! I am not leaving my car behind! Do you know how much that car

cost me?" he asked in a provocative manner, Andria stepped herself in between the two and

started talking for herself, yelling more like it.

"He's right Nick, it won't fit through her" she tried to explain "we're gonna

have ta go on foot from here" Nick was very unhappy. He gave them a dirty look and turned

towards the bridge, analyzing it. They were right, his car was way too wide for it to get

past without getting stuck. He rubbed his hand through his wet, dripping hair and down

his face, he didn't want to admit they were right, but that car was also fucking

expensive.

"Whatever, just whatever!" he yelled, not caring about anything else at this

point. The waves from the lake were growing in size, getting bigger and bigger with each

passing moment of the horrific storm; causing massive flooding and power shortages.

Ellis, Keith and Kayla made it to the bridge, huffing and puffing from the strenuous work

they just did, Andria looked to them confused as to why they were so tired, it was just a

storm.

"why're yew so tired? Wuts wrong?" she questioned, asking lots of questions like

a mother would. Ellis stood up straight and looked at her with nothing but seriousness in

his eyes.

"Kayla es right, there're somethings out there" he told her, she looked at him in

disbelief and stupidity. Keith noticed where the situation was going and motioned towards

the bridge, if they gathered up there they will be able to see everything. Andria looked

to Dave who was in the same amount of disbelief as she was.  Ellis and Keith pleaded them

to believe what they were saying, the boys weren't known to tell lies, just make the

truth seem a little farfetched. Andria gave in and walked herself up towards the top of

the bridge; it was guarded by metal fences on either side to protect things from falling

over and onto the thirty foot drop of rocks and muddy swamp water. The six of them lined

up along the jagged fence and waited in the hard pouring thunderstorm. There was no sign

of lightning in over a minute, Kayla and the two hicks started to worry that they

couldn't prove what they were saying, Andria would be pissed and no one would talk to

them. Just when all hope for the trio seemed to be lost a roar of thunder crackled

through the dark sky and released a hoard of blue lightning strikes that lit up the sky

like the Fourth of July. With that last strike lighting up the dark sky, the six could

see even more creatures than before traveling through the knee deep water and trying to

make it past the thick pine trees and bushes blocking their way from the small group.

Nice, Dave and Andria stood in awe; they couldn't believe what they were seeing even

though it was directly in front of them.

"wut the hell're those?" Andria cried shocked from what she had witnessed,

stepping back from the metal fence in front of her only to be bombarded by the other

fence behind her.  Kayla stood away from the fence and looked at the group

"That's what I've been trying to warn you about!" she shouted. The water was

rising at an incredible rate, their feet was now submerged in the brown, nasty lake

water. Keith looked towards Andria, helping calm her down; with another flash of lighting

he noticed a gargantuan wave, the size of a two-story building, heading their way

"yew guys better grab on ta something , now!" he shouted. They all turned their

heads the direction Keith was facing and dropped open their mouths. The wave wasn't like

any other they've seen all together, it was unrealistic and frightening. Nick clenched

his fists together tightly

"oh fuc-" was all he could make out before being swallowed by the massive wave

and tossed around like ball under immense pressure. Their bodies were pushed and shoved

around, almost falling off the bridge if it wasn't for the thirteen foot fence catching

them as they slammed in to it with a force of a thousand pound weight. Nicks body hit the

fence first, taking in some of the impact as Andria was pushed on top him with little

whiplash. Dave hadn't gone far from the spot he was already standing at, he was smart

enough to grab onto the fence with both hands before the wave crashed into them. It still

hurt as much though. Ellis had quickly swung his arms around Kayla and held her tight as

the wave whooshed them around and throwing Ellis back first against the hard metal fence,

causing him to swallow a big gulp of lake water. Keith was the last one to hit the fence,

he unfortunately hit the fence upside down on his stomach, and he forcefully moved his

hands to cover his nose and to not take in any water. The water moved around until it

fully spread out and off the bridge. Without the pressure of the water holding there

selves up, the group collapsed to the ground, desperately gasping for air and coughing up

all the water that had entered their systems.
